Our newish Labor government continues the militarist policies of the previous Liberal National Party government with a US-submissive militarist flourish that beggars belief. We find ourselves involved in two possible trigger points for WWIII, as militarisation booms. The government ignore the anti-war dissent of their party rank and file.
A housing and cost of living crisis assails us, as banks make record profits. COVID continues to kill and disable our citizenry despite our best efforts to ignore and minimise it.
Tax cuts for our richest citizens are on the table despite research demonstrating that – “inequality is on steroids as the bottom 90% get just 7% of economic growth since 2009.” That’s right, it means “the top 10% of income earners (awaiting those yummy tax cuts) reap 93% of the benefits.”
Are we to believe this Labor government – whose neoliberal policies are keeping people in poverty – harbour a warm and loving concern for the plight of Aboriginal people?
Let’s get something straight, I fervently wish I could believe in the Voice, but as the saying goes, “Fool me once – shame on you. Fool me countless times…”
