We are encouraged by the building momentum in the vaccine program, with Australia now administering more doses per capita each week than the UK or the US ever achieved in their programs.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">At the same time, we can also see the impact of lockdowns on our people, on our customers, on our small business suppliers, and on communities and families right across the country. Australia is juggling a mental health emergency at the same time as a global pandemic. Some of the impacts of current lockdowns are hidden, and the effects will be long lasting.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">As vaccination rates increase, it will become necessary to open up society and live with the virus, in the same way that other countries have done. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">The National Cabinet has agreed to a roadmap which provides a path out of lockdowns, with an easing of restrictions from 70% and 80% vaccination rates. We need to stay the course.<\/span><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Informed by modelling from the Doherty Institute, it balances the risks from COVID in a more vaccinated population, with the risks of indefinitely keeping our country divided and cut off from the world, our children out of schools, our friends apart from loved ones, and our small businesses closed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">Businesses will continue to do whatever we can to support our people to get vaccinated and to provide a safe environment for our customers and the community, including <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Aboriginal Covid cases climb as Australian vaccination \u2018surge\u2019 falls short - Calls for greater resources as Aboriginal people disproportionately forced to \u2018live with Covid\u2019 - Lorena Allam and Nick Evershed - The Guardian\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2021\/nov\/05\/aboriginal-people-in-nsw-and-act-affected-by-covid-at-twice-the-rate-of-other-australians-data-shows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the prioritisation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities<\/a><\/span> as originally intended.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp; <span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 20px;\">We ask governments to work together to implement the National Plan and chart a path out of the current lockdowns. Providing a light at the end of the tunnel will encourage more Australians to get vaccinated. Some of the impacts of current lockdowns are hidden, and the effects will be long lasting.&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><a style=\"color: #800000;\" title=\"Anthony Albanese cites mental health concerns as reason for not tightening Covid rules - Josh Butler - The Guardian\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2022\/jul\/20\/anthony-albanese-stops-short-of-calling-for-australians-to-work-from-home-amid-covid-surge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This was a theme seized upon by &#8220;Albo&#8221;<\/a><\/span> &#8211; (for doing nothing about a deadly pandemic) &#8211; who stated, <em>\u201cOne is mental health considerations \u2026 the imposition of controls on people\u2019s behaviours has an impact on people\u2019s health.&#8221;<\/em><\/span> <span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">\u201cAnd particularly young people, we\u2019re seeing a really problematic increase in incidents of severe consequences when it comes to young people\u2019s health, but others as well.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Albanese said the nation needed a <em>\u201cbalance\u201d<\/em> to also consider the interests of business.<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">&#8220;Albo&#8217;s&#8221; summations on pandemic precautions and mental health are both unsubstantiated and hypocritical. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><br \/>\nThe <em>young people<\/em> and adults who have lost parents, grandparents and friends from Covid are certainly distressed and prone to depression. Yet even their existence is nullified by &#8220;Albo&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As to the impacts of imposed controls?
