2 | Ronni Salt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What is not widely known is that Angus Taylor\u2019s government colleagues also met with Josh Frydenberg over the<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><a style=\"color: #008000;\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/grassgate?src=hashtag_click\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#grassgate<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> issue.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">We have learned, in mid 2017 the case of Angus Taylor\u2019s land, his brother and the confused farmers was brought before (former) Senator Wacka Williams.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Senator Williams brought the controversial issue to the federal National Party room.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The Nationals were well aware of the connection to Angus Taylor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The Nationals, with Barnaby Joyce as their leader, voted to take up the case of Richard Taylor &amp; the threatened grasslands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-659\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Frydenberg-talks2.jpg?resize=669%2C497&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"669\" height=\"497\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Frydenberg-talks2.jpg?w=669&amp;ssl=1 669w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Frydenberg-talks2.jpg?resize=300%2C223&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 669px) 100vw, 669px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">So &#8211; Angus Taylor\u2019s fellow government colleagues also met with Josh Frydenberg, specifically to pressure him over the issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">As a result of this meeting and (even possibly) the meeting with Angus Taylor, Frydenberg took a most unusual step.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Frydenberg had already asked his department staff if he could alter the controversial grasslands legislation on his own &amp; was greeted with a firm \u201cno\u201d from his department.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">So he announced a special review into the legislation (EPBC Act) instead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">We say special, because the EPBC Act already has inbuilt reviews.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Under Sect 552A of the Act, it is comprehensively reviewed by experts every 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">In March 2018 &#8211; when David Littleproud &amp; Frydenberg announced a review into the Act &#8211; a 10 year full review was due anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">However, the Dept of Environment decided to peel off just the section of the Act that relates to agriculture to review \u2013 nothing else.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Which was very lucky, because the Act\u2019s section on agriculture is also the section that interacts with the spraying of native grasslands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Another interesting point is that up to 2018, there had been 6002 breaches of the EPBC Act (the one with the protected grasslands).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Of those 6002 breaches, only 162 had involved agriculture, or less than 2.7%.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Statistically &#8211; with so very few breaches involving farming \u2013 why the sudden urgent need for a special review of the Act &amp; its grasslands sections, particularly as they directly affected Minister Taylor, his family, his businesses and business associates?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">On March 29 2018, the federal govt announced that Dr Wendy Craik would be conducting the review into the way the environment interfered with agriculture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Ten days later, the company that Dr Wendy Craik is employed by &#8211; won the half a million dollar contract.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Now please note, this review of the Act (\u201cReview of Interactions Between the EPBC Act &amp; the Agriculture Sector\u201d) was sold to the public as a review into agriculture as a whole<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Yet numerous chunks of this EPBC Act review concentrated specifically on the native grasslands portion.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"tweet-text\" class=\"css-901oao r-hkyrab r-1qd0xha r-a023e6 r-16dba41 r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-bnwqim r-qvutc0\" dir=\"auto\" lang=\"en\">\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">There were 77 submissions to the review as a whole, (including a highly comical submission from the urban based<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheIPA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">@TheIPA<\/span><\/a>) <span style=\"color: #000000;\">Seven submissions to this comprehensive review into Australia\u2019s agriculture sector came from the sparsely populated Monaro alone, or just under 10%.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The confused sprayers submitted too.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Richard Taylor made a submission to the inquiry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Stuart Burge made a submission to the inquiry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">In fact, both of these men were granted a special audience to meet with the inquiry team in person to discuss their thoughts on the EPBC Act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Which leaves us with the most extraordinary situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">People still under investigation for alleged illegal land clearing &#8211; one of whom was the Minister\u2019s brother &#8211; were asked to submit their opinion of the Act under which they were being investigated for breaches.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Apart from the foxes being asked to give their opinion of the fencing around the chicken coop, the review had another extraordinary outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The EPBC Act review came up with a number of recommendations (some of them quite sound to be fair) but among them was one that stood out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Out of the whole of Australia&#8217;s vast mass, there were to be two areas selected for a special trial to see if sections of the EPBC Act needed to be altered.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">And were those areas in Broome? Or Kangaroo Island? Perhaps the cattle country of the far north?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">No dear reader, the two special areas chosen out of all of Australia were the Monaro and the Walgett region, NSW. And naturally, people who own or manage land in those areas would be very grateful for any changes in the legislation at all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-658\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Coolabah-map.jpg?resize=681%2C510&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"681\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Coolabah-map.jpg?w=681&amp;ssl=1 681w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dingo.news\/voice\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Coolabah-map.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 681px) 100vw, 681px\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\" style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 20px;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">In summary: We have an environmental Act that has been around for almost two decades. There were statistically minimal breaches from farmers under that Act. The Act was up for review anyway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Suddenly Minister Angus Taylor became ensnared in sections of the Act. A cause c\u00e9l\u00e8bre is raised.
