Australia’s Prime Minister Albanese is attempting to use some purported compassion for the Nepalese and Tibetans killed by Climate Change to excuse his not addressing Climate Change. This is as cynical as his claiming to care about the Palestinians being slaughtered by the Israelis he supports and arms. Albanese’s ability to lie to the Australian people’s faces is a necessary talent given his constant betrayals of their trust.

Now is not the time to debate the role climate change played in the recent Nepal flood disaster, Anthony Albanese says. “There will be time to examine the science and what has occurred here. My thoughts, solely are focused at this point in time on the families and on the extraordinarily difficult time,” he says. “Those debates will take place but I don’t think from Australia’s perspective, now’s the time. My focus is very much on the people who are incredibly traumatised by not knowing what has happened to their loved ones.”

Seven years have passed since the bushfires that burnt up to 19 million hectares (12.6 million hectares primarily forest and bushland), in which 33 lives were lost and over 3,000 homes destroyed. It is estimated that nearly three billion animals perished.

What makes this faux compassion for the victims of Climate Change even worse is that it was used by Labor when the Morrison Liberal government was in power. Even in opposition the Labor Party support the Liberals and endorse fossil fuel profits over Climate Change victims.

The call to “strongly raise the issue of climate-related disasters with the international community” by Nepal’s Prime Minister Balen Shah was quickly invalidated by Australia’s fossil fuel representative Anthony Albanese.

Albanese’s treachery and total capitulation to Labor’s fossil fuel donors is an easily proven fact as is the history of collaboration between Fossil Fuel companies and Labor MPs.

The Climate Council warns the Albanese Government is putting Australians in harm’s way as it prepares to green light Woodside’s North West Shelf until 2070, the most polluting fossil fuel project in a decade.

Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie said: “This project is a climate bomb that will unleash more than four billion tonnes of pollution, fuelling even more dangerous floods, fires and droughts for Australian communities. While families are already paying the price of climate disasters, the Albanese Government is giving Woodside a free pass to pollute for 45 years.”

Fossil fuel subsidies cost the Australian people $16.3 billion in 2025–26, an increase of 9.4% on the previous year

“If the Government wants its 2035 climate target to be taken seriously, it must stop approving coal and gas projects. Every new fossil fuel project unleashes more pollution here and abroad. The government can’t credibly claim to be doing everything possible to fight climate change while waving through more pollution.”

Not only are these fossil fuel companies predatory – they are also parasitic – paying next to no tax despite their massive profits which the wars (they support and nurture) in Ukraine and West Asia have increased even more.

If a 25% tax on Australia’s natural gas exports had been enacted in 2022 (by Labor) it would have already raised $63.8 billion

The latest Eco-bastardry from Labor

Once again, Labor’s (petroplastic) donors take precedence over the health of people and the environment

Good ol’ “Albo” claims to be worried about the impact plastic waste laws would have on his beloved citizenry’s hip pocket. We are supposed to swallow this faux compassion yet again, from the man who signed us up to AUKUS, and who refuses to tax his donors or slash the subsidies they receive.

Bioplastics is a fledgling industry in Australia that could have used some government support. So too the recycling models that do not seem all that successful in Australia. Norway and South Korea are doing far better. That is due to the political will and courage to serve their people, not to any technological or social advantages. Job creation and subsidies seem limited to planet-killing industries in Australia.
