Accusations of anti-Jewish hate speech (“October 7 denial”)
Chip’s article, Broadcasting doyenne accused of anti-Jewish hate speech with its bizarre subtext that “October 7 denial” is some sort of blasphemous assault on Judaism comparable with Holocaust denial, reads as a warning to journalists. Speak up about Israel’s war crimes and genocide and you too will be punished.
Chip: “The Human Rights Commission complaint against Kostakidis is under Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act… this provision has been used previously by Jewish people and groups against Holocaust deniers.”
“This masthead last week documented the phenomena of October 7 denial, where prominent pro-Palestinian supporters such as Kostakidis have sought to minimise, qualify and otherwise deny what Hamas and other armed Palestinian groups did when they attacked communities in southern Israel.”
An accusation undermined by the Jewish people who are also questioning the events of October 7, and who believe the mass slaughter of Palestinian people and the levelling of Gaza (Genocide and Domicide) is the real perversion of Jewish values and Holocaust remembrance.
Chip: “In an email response to questions from this masthead last week, she defended each of her claims and maintained her scepticism that women were raped on October 7.”
Ms Kostakidis (and indeed this scribe) has made it clear she is referring to claims that Hamas “organised” and used “mass rape” as a weapon of war. She has not discounted the possibility that rape did occur on October 7. Chip’s “inaccuracy” speaks to his bias. There were also other Palestinian groups besides Hamas involved in October 7.
The UN report on sexual violence on October 7 has found no evidence of systematic rape by Hamas or any other Palestinian group, despite widespread media reporting to the contrary.” – Here’s what Pramila Patten’s UN report on Oct 7 sexual violence actually said | Feminist Solidarity Network for Palestine | Mondoweiss
The Times of Israel gave us this unevidenced Hasbara, “…sexual abuse committed by Hamas includes acts of gang rape, genital mutilation and necrophilia”. The ToI’s bold assertion, “Despite definitive witness testimony”, was a surety not echoed in the UN investigation.
. “The Israeli police have also issued a statement since the publication of the (New York) Times’ article asserting that they themselves are unable to locate eyewitnesses of rape on October 7, or to connect the testimonies published by outlets like the Times with anything remotely resembling evidence.” – Screams without proof: questions for NYT about shoddy ‘Hamas mass rape’ report | Max Blumenthal and Aaron Maté | The GRAYZONE
Questioning Israeli reports about October 7, promulgated widely by a mainstream media with such an appalling history is hardly the “phenomena” Chip describes. It is an entirely logical position for any competent journalist to take. Disinformation and propaganda are an integral part of Israel’s intelligence agencies and Israel has a long history of monitoring the media to ensure compliance with pro-Israeli agendas.
“…the aim is to make journalists and editors decide that, even if they have a legitimate story that may criticise Israel, it is simply not worth running it because it will cause “more trouble than it’s worth”. As Agence France-Presse correspondent Philippe Agret says, the aim is to “exhaust” journalists and editors so they think twice before writing anything critical of Israel”.

Chip’s “October 7 denial”
Chip’s matter-of-factness about “October 7 denial” is an absurdity, especially when we know the intent this invention serves. We understand that innocent Israeli people were killed on October 7, but to labour this point at the expense of the innocent Palestinians currently being slaughtered in far greater numbers by Israel, is illogical and designed to deflect from that grotesque reality. The Zionist “internal logic” that Palestinian deaths are not to be equated with Israeli fatalities is an obscene rationalisation and one that has always fuelled ethnic cleansing.
“Nakba denial” which Chip faithfully adheres to, underpins most of the narrative about October 7.
So what is next? Another addition to the IHRA’s working definition? People to face charges of racial vilification by the Human Rights Commission for denying the existence of the fabricated 40 beheaded babies and mass rape by Hamas? As is happening.
Zionists seek control of the Israel/Palestine narrative
The Zionist Federation and others of their ilk have been busy deifying the Israeli victims of 7 October while persecuting and demonising anyone critical of Israel’s mass slaughter of Palestinians.
“The arrest of the reporter Richard Medhurst, who has been one of the most ardent critics of the genocide in Gaza and Israeli apartheid state, at Heathrow airport is part of the steady march towards the criminalization of journalism, something all of us, including Medhurst, understood lay at the heart of the long persecution of Julian Assange.” – On the Arrest of Richard Medhurst | Chris Hedges | Substack
Attempts to pin anti-Jewish motives on journalists who criticise Israel, is a bottom-of-the-barrel ploy. Necessitated by Zionists being unable to refute the reality of the Gaza Genocide being uploaded in real time to social media.
Sarah Wilkinson a pro-Palestine activist, arrested for “content that she has posted online” has been released on bail after being arrested by UK counter terrorism police. Her bail conditions include not using a phone or laptop.
“Wilkinson has been a tireless critic of the U.K. government’s support for Israel and has posted many images of the death and destruction in Gaza, where Israeli forces have killed and wounded more than 144,000 Palestinians. Israel is on trial for genocide at the International Court of Justice.” – UK Continues Use of Anti-Terrorism Law to Arrest Palestine Defenders | Brett Wilkins | Common Dreams
The dismantling of Israel’s hastily contrived October 7 narrative was especially painful to those zealots who had given it an almost religious significance. Kostakidis, Medhurst, Wilkinson, et al, heretics, whose truths can not be allowed to exist alongside the new Amalek mythos that drives Israel’s vengeance.
“Now go and attack the Amalekites and completely destroy everything they have. Do not spare them. Kill men and women, infants and nursing babies, oxen and sheep, camels and donkeys.” – Samuel 15:3
“There has never been so much talk of vengeance in Israel, and it’s only hinted at in the TV studios. And if this weren’t enough, army rabbis are now wandering around bases and preaching the biblical injunction to destroy Amalek”. – Netanyahu Has to Play by Biden’s Rules to Ensure American Support – and Deterrence | Amos Harel | Haaretz
The media frenzy about Hamas beheading 40 babies was obviously fabricated to win over public sympathy for Israel’s genocidal response. Even though debunked, those fake atrocities paved the way for the mass slaughter of Palestinians that has continued for 328 days. That is how this disgusting ploy works and has worked, in every military action since their brutal origins.
Despite being debunked these fake atrocities accomplished the purpose they were designed to – the “justification” for Israel’s genocidal response | Soldiers “crying” – no less
The first casualty of war…
Ms Kostakidis is being punished for questioning Israeli fabrications of the events of October 7, widely-publicised by a compliant Western media. The “first casualty of war (being) truth”.1 A truism that emerged prior to WWI that has been proven correct in the many wars, police actions (and other euphemisms for war) that followed “the war to end all wars” – and undoubtedly, all of those that preceded it.
Born 525 B.C.E | Aeschylus (Fragm. Incert, xi.) – “God is not averse to deceit in a just cause.”
1758 | Samuel Johnson in “The Idler” – “Among the calamities of War may be justly numbered the diminution of the love of truth, by the falsehoods which interest dictates and credulity encourages.”
1904 | “The Christian Work and The Evangelist” – “The way the news from the seat of war is stated one day, reiterated the next day and “authoritatively contradicted” the day following forcibly illustrates the fact that truth often takes slow trains in war times and arrives at the station much behind time.”
1914 | “The Albany Evening Journal” – “In the lists of casualties of this war, Truth occupies a conspicuous place.”
Anyone aware of the pretext for the First Gulf war would be alarmed by an uncritical pro-Israel stance coming from people purporting to be journalists.
On October 10th, 1990, a 15-year old girl who provided only her first name, Nayirah, appeared before the United States Congressional Human Rights Caucus and gave a testimony which was then used by US Government and organizations as justification of the Gulf War.
In her emotional testimony, Nayirah claimed that after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait she had witnessed Iraqi soldiers take babies out of incubators in a Kuwaiti hospital, take the incubators, and leave the babies to die.
The effect was instantaneous. Nayirah’s testimony was widely publicized. Hill & Knowlton (an American PR firm), which had filmed the hearing, sent out a video news release to MediaLink, a firm which served about 700 television stations in the United States.
Bush quoted Nayirah at every opportunity. Six times in one month he referred to “312 premature babies at Kuwait City’s maternity hospital who died after Iraqi soldiers stole their incubators and left the infants on the floor,” and of “babies pulled from incubators and scattered like firewood across the floor.” Her account of the atrocities helped to stir American opinion in favor of participation in the Gulf War.
Everything was cleared up on January 6, 1992, when The New York Times published an op-ed piece by John MacArthur entitled “Remember Nayirah, Witness for Kuwait?”. He revealed that Nayirah (full name Nayirah al-Ṣabaḥ) was the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the U.S., Saud Nasir al-Sabah. Furthermore, it was revealed that her testimony was organized as part of the Citizens for a Free Kuwait public relations campaign, which was run by the American public relations firm Hill & Knowlton (yes them) for the Kuwaiti government. | The Great Lie of the Gulf war: How a false testimony changed the public view of the war | Syed Ali Haider | Medium
There is something surreal about Zionist Federation of Australia chief executive Alon Cassuto describing October 7 as a “sadistic massacre” while Israel razes Gaza and slaughters innocent men, women and (mostly) children

MK: A country that is an apartheid state, having stolen land, ‘mowed the lawn’ with gratuitous killing of Palestinians for decades, tortured detainees held often without charge, herded a couple of million people into a ghetto/open air prison, then launched a genocide.
This, because I have been sharing the reports by extremely highly regarded independent journalists, who have written about the absence of credible evidence (regarding) the claims of ‘systemic, widespread rape’ by Hamas on Oct 7. The Beheaded Babies, the 40 burnt babies, the genital mutilations, the systemic rape were all unsubstantiated or proven false.
In an age when everyone carries smartphones, we are expected to believe no one thought to upload photos and videos of these supposed atrocities?
Iraqi “incubator babies” meets Hamas “beheaded babies“
MK: The Israelis claimed to have footage and photos but the latest U.N. investigation made no finding of rape.
To be clear, I have never said there was No Rape. It is something I could never say – it would be a nonsense for anyone to make such a definitive statement.
Yet the double page story by Chip Le Grand makes no reference to my series of tweets about rape over a period of months that make clear I’m referring to systemic rape. The offending tweet is one where I put it would be counter to their mission to spend time on rape because they would jeopardise their mission which was to grab hostages and try to stay alive for long enough to escape. They would have to be pretty dumb to risk it.
As it turns out, as I proffered, the latest U.N. investigation found no evidence that would allow them to conclude there had been rape. But Chip Le Grand reports none of this.
His story also took umbrage at my comment that we can’t know how many Israel deaths were caused by the IDF on Oct 7. Many independent commentators are now saying precisely that, including Gideon Levy. Even Piers Morgan can’t accept the Israelis know for a fact that a considerable number of Israelis were not killed on that day, because of the Hannibal Directive.

Good morning Mary.
Zionist Federation of Australia chief executive Alon Cassuto is today lodging a complaint against you with the Australian Human Rights Commission under Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act.
The complaint relates to your Twitter post from 4 January, when you reposted a link to a speech by Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah, in which he told Jewish people living in Israel and the occupied territories:
“Here, it is going to be very difficult for you. If you want to be secure, if you want to feel secure, you have an American passport, go back to the United States. You have a British passport, go back to the UK. Here you don’t have a future, from the river to the sea the land of Palestine is for the Palestinian people and the Palestinian people only.”
You prefaced the link to the speech with the comment: “The Israeli govt getting some of its own medicine. Israel has started something it can’t finish with this genocide.”
Cassuto says that Nasrallah’s speech calls for the ethnic cleansing of Jews from Israel and the occupied territories and alleges that, by sharing a link to it with your 30,000-odd Twitter followers, you disseminated hate speech against Israelis and Jewish people.
The ZFA says that through this and more than 100 other Twitter posts since October 7, you have misused your standing and profile as a highly respected former newsreader and face of our multicultural broadcaster, to share extreme propaganda and hateful material.
Could I please ask you
Why did you share Nasrallah’s speech?
Do you agree that material you have shared on Twitter since October 7 vilifies Israelis and Jewish people?
Is there any other comment you would like to make?
Thanks Mary. The ZFA announced earlier today they are holding a 2pm press conference to discuss this matter. I will publish a first take story at 2pm and would like to include your response.
Otherwise, I can update the story anytime before 5pm to include your comments.
I’ll also give you a call.
Best regards, Chip.

Hi Randa. I’m writing a story for the Saturday Age and SMH about October 7 denial.
October 7 denial, like holocaust denial, has taken many forms. including quibbling over the number of Israeli civilians killed, shifting blame for atrocities away from the perpetrators and on to Israel, greeting survivor stories with scepticism or demand for proof, or otherwise seeking to minimise, justify or qualify the nature of the atrocities carried by Hamas and other militant Palestinian groups.
They all perpetuate the same, ancient anti-semitic trope that Jews are liars who should not be believed.
Could I please ask you about the cynicism you have publicly expressed — and called for from others — towards allegations of mass rape of Israeli women on October 7?
Why do you doubt that Palestinian militants willing to murder hundreds of Israel civilians and in some cases, mutilate and burn their bodies, also raped or otherwise sexually brutalised women?
Why did you describe as specious a New York Times article (republished by my paper) titled “Screams Without Words“, given the breadth of material and witness accounts it relied upon?
Do you agree that what the NYT investigation found — that girls and women were sexually assaulted at at least seven locations in southern Israel — is largely consistent with what the UN independent commission of inquiry found in its attached 12 June report? (Paragraph 291)
Do you consider yourself an October 7 denier? If not, how would you describe your attitude towards October 7?
Thanks Randa. I’m working towards a midday Friday deadline.
If you would like to respond, please get back to me before then. If you would prefer to discuss this by phone my best number is (redacted)
I will text you the same message to make sure it reaches you.

Chip seems to relish his role as a conduit for Zionist persecution. Eagerly publicising the consequences of being an anti-genocide voice, negatively interpreting any criticism of Israel and conflating criticism of Israel’s genocidal response to October 7 with antisemitism.
As Antoinette Lattouf makes clear in her acceptance of the inaugural NSW Council of Civil Liberties President’s award for journalism…
• Gaza is the deadliest place to be a journalist. The past 10 months have been the deadliest period to be a journalist. This award is for the Palestinian journalists who no longer have breath, let alone a voice. Foreign journalists are not allowed in either.
• Journalists have been killed everywhere. In their offices, in the field, in their homes, in their cars, in refugee camps and outside hospitals. Some deaths are from precision airstrikes on reporters who are clearly identified.
• Not only is the number of journalists targeted and killed shocking and unacceptable, so too is the silence from the vast majority of my peers in Australia and throughout the western world who purport to care about press freedom and human rights.
Eschewing the “shocking and unacceptable silence” that characterises the cowardice of Western journalists towards the slaughter of their comrades in Gaza, Chip has chosen an active complicity with a brutal regime that militates against “press freedom and human rights” through the simple expediency of murdering journalists.
Substantiated mass rape?
Good news for Chip. Not just an overwhelming clarification of a mass rape, but video evidence, and even footage of protests supporting these appalling atrocities.
“Israeli protesters rally for ‘the right to rape’ prisoners, Protesters, politicians and TV commentators in Israel are defending the right of soldiers to mistreat and even rape Palestinian prisoners in detention. The show of support follows the gang rape of a male detainee by a group of Israeli reservists.” Israeli protesters rally for ‘the right to rape’ prisoners | Al Jazeera
The Problem Isn’t Just Netanyahu. It’s Israeli Society
At last, a story with some evidential meat Chip can promulgate to the masses. Certainly beats that fantastical rubbish, served up by Israel, to “justify” their genocidal response to Oct 7.
Knowing Chip’s fondness for the “mass rape” theme, we look forward to his article condemning the sexual assaults (and torture) of Palestinian prisoners. While it may not be popular with those who consider Palestinians subhuman and deserving of rape and torture…
“A new poll has suggested a majority of Israelis believe the prison officials accused of sexually assaulting a Palestinian detainee should not face criminal charges and just be disciplined by the army.” – Majority of Israeli Jews believe prison rape suspects shouldn’t face criminal charges | Middle East Eye
…Chip’s standing as a journalist is in dire need of some unbiased reporting based on truth.

2 My generation grew up with images of Dachau and Treblinka. Mother, an Irish nursing aid in England, cared for a Holocaust survivor who would wake up every night shouting in horror. We get it. Ethnic cleansing is a sickness. Racism is abhorrently illogical. Genocide is that nightmare, wherein humans are fed onto a conveyor belt that leads to a meat grinder. Industrialised inhumanity.
So why an Israeli Genocide? Why the weaponisation of “antisemitism” to persecute and quiet those voices repulsed by the Gaza Genocide? What the fuck is wrong with people like Chip Le Grand who attempt to minimise an obscenity that militates against Jewish values?
